Ways to Give

However you choose to give, the NAS appreciates your generosity, which allows us to proactively address critical scientific issues and enables us to take on activities intended to strengthen the role of science and science policy.

Secure online gifts are the most efficient way to give to NAS Annual Fund, unrestricted endowment, or the program of your choice.

Our printable donation form (PDF) provides an easy way to mail or fax your contribution.

Checks made payable to the "National Academy of Sciences" should be mailed to:

NAS Office of Development
P.O. Box 936138
Atlanta, GA 31193-6135

To make your gift via telephone, please be ready to provide the information on the donation form and then call the Development Office at 202-334-2431.

Planned Gifts

Your planned gifts to NAS, often in the form of a bequest, charitable gift annuity, or charitable remainder trust represents your current commitment to our nation's long-term future. We encourage you to explore our planned giving site today.

Workplace Giving

♦   Combined Federal Campaign — Federal employees can support the NAS through the CFC starting October 2 - January 12, 2018. Simply enter CFC #39601 on your pledge card and return it to your campaign coordinator. We are proud to be a part of this meaningful workplace giving campaign. Learn more about the CFC.
♦   Matching Gifts — Did you know that your gift can be increased at no additional cost to you if a corporation or foundation with a matching gifts program employs you or a family member? Often, retirees and directors qualify for this benefit as well. This is an easy way to double or even triple your donation.

Gifts of stock or securities mutually benefit both you and the NAS. Please notify us of your intended donation by following the instructions on our stock gift form (PDF) so that we can accurately credit your contribution.

Tax-Exempt Status

Gifts and grants are tax-deductible when made to the National Academy of Sciences, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, which includes under its congressional charter the National Academy of Engineering, Institute of Medicine, and National Research Council. The NAS tax identification number is 53-0196932. For your reference, a copy of our 501(c)(3) Tax Determination Letter is available to download.

The National Academy of Sciences proudly adheres to a Donor Bill of Rights, allowing you, as a donor, to have complete confidence that your wishes will be respected.
